About us

Welcome to our Official Website!

The Gallatin Sunnyside Volunteer Fire Department was the First Fire Department in Forward Township organized in 1932 and is one of two fire departments responsible for providing fire and rescue services to the Township of Forward. We are located in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, approximately 25 miles southeast of Downtown Pittsburgh with a current population of 3,376 residents. Our Township is made up of approximately 20 square miles of commercial, residential, rural farming areas and the Monongahela River. Our Company consists of 28 trained, dedicated, and hardworking individuals. We answer approximately 150-200 calls for help annually providing home coverage to the Gallatin-Sunnyside area and automatic first due aid to our sister station, Forward Township VFC; mutual aid to the neighboring cities/boros of Monongahela, New Eagle, Monessen, Elizabeth, and The Townships of Elizabeth, Rostraver and Carroll. We operate out of 1 station consisting of an Engine, Rescue/Engine, Quick Attack, Brush/Tanker, Special Operations All Terrain Vehicle, and 2 Fire/Rescue Boats.

The Gallatin Sunnyside VFD requires all of our Firefighters to obtain the necessary training in a variety of disciplines to ensure not only their own safety but also the residents safety before responding to emergencies so that you, the resident can rely on our department during your time of need. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our members for all their hard work and the residents and business owners for their generous donations and continued support. Please stop back soon and stay safe!
