In August 2020, we were notified by the FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program that we were awarded a grant to replace our 1968 Kaiser Jeep 6x6 5-Ton Brush Truck that was converted from a military vehicle to serve our Department when we received it in the late 1990s.
After many months of planning, tonight we have put ink to paper and have signed a contract with Flashover Fire Apparatus and 4 Guys Fire Apparatus to build our 2022 International Brush Truck that will serve as a multi-purpose unit capable of handling not only wild-land fires, but potential well site emergencies, railroad and aircraft incidents, and fires in remote areas with limited or no water sources immediately available. This apparatus will carry 1700 Gallons of Water, 50 gallons of Foam and have a 500 GPM pump. Additionally, it will not only carry equipment for brush/wild-land fires, but will also carry a 2100 Gallon Drop tank for tanker operations. We are very excited for this opportunity presented to us by FEMA so we can continue to protect the residents of Forward Township and surrounding Communities.
Thank you to Ron Vezzani from Flashover Fire Apparatus for working with us and helping us to put this Fire Apparatus together.
